Albums are defined by the Official Charts Company (OCC) as being a type of music release that features more than four tracks and lasts longer than 25 minutes; during the 1980s, sales of albums in the United Kingdom were compiled on behalf by of the British music industry by the British Market Research Bureau (BMRB) until 4 January 1983, after which they were monitored by Gallup. The biggest-selling album of the 1980s was ''Brothers in Arms'' by Dire Straits, which was the first album to sell a million copies on CD. Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and Madonna had two of the best selling albums of the decade each, with Jackson's two being the second and third best-sellers of the decade. ==Albums==
